How much quilting fabric do I need for my project?
Yardage depends on your pattern, block size, and whether you're also buying backing and binding. We strongly recommend calling or visiting before you buy — we can help you calculate exactly what you need. It's the most common mistake quilters make buying online (too little), and we prevent it every day.
What types of quilting fabric do you carry?
Our primary selection is 100% cotton quilting fabric — the standard for most quilts. We also carry wide-back backing fabric, flannel, minky for baby quilts, and specialty materials. Our cotton collection includes prints, solids, batiks, tone-on-tones, and coordinated designer lines updated regularly.
What quilt batting do you recommend?
It depends on the quilt's purpose and how you'll quilt it. Cotton batting gives a flatter, more antique feel and is machine washable. Polyester batting lofts higher and is great for tied quilts. Blended batting is a good middle ground. We carry all three and can walk you through the right choice when you visit or call.
Do you sell pre-cut fabric bundles like jelly rolls and charm packs?
Yes — we stock jelly rolls (2.5" strips), charm packs (5" squares), layer cakes (10" squares), and fat quarter bundles. Pre-cuts are great for beginners and for quilters who want a coordinated palette without buying multiple bolts. Ask about current selection when you visit or call.

Do you carry thread for quilting?
Yes — we stock piecing thread (typically 50wt cotton) and machine quilting thread in a wide range of colors, plus variegated thread for decorative quilting effects. We can recommend the right thread weight for your machine and project.
What if I'm a complete beginner and don't know where to start?
Come in or call — that's exactly what we're here for. We've been helping complete beginners pick their first fabric and understand their first pattern for 60 years. We also offer quilting classes for all skill levels right here in Grand Junction if you'd like guided instruction. There's no such thing as a question too basic for us.
